Weekend Review: Burnley blunder on home Turf against 11/1 Mansfield Town
Mansfield score the biggest giant killing of the FA Cup fourth round thus far after stunning Scott Parker’s side
League One outfit Mansfield Town (11/1) produced the biggest shock of the FA Cup fourth round weekend by beating Premier League strugglers Burnley (2/5) 2-1 at Turf Moor.
Josh Laurent put the home side in front in the first half, before second half strikes from Rhys Oates and Louis Reed secured the dramatic comeback for the East Midlands side.
Elsewhere, Premier League sides dispatched of lower league opposition to secure their passage into the fifth round.
Arsenal (1/20) ran out comfortable 4-0 winners at home to League One Wigan Athletic, while Manchester City (1/25) beat League Two Salford City 2-0 at the Etihad.
Chelsea (11/50) were 4-0 winners against Hull City, and Leeds United (19/20) required penalties to see off Birmingham City.

Sunderland (14/25), Fulham (7/10), Wolves (2/5) and West Ham (31/50) secured wins away at Oxford United, Stoke, Grimsby and Burton Albion, respectively.
An all-Premier League clash between Aston Villa and Newcastle (7/5) proved to be a fine advert for VAR, with the Magpies coming from behind to secure a 3-1 victory against 10 men at Villa Park.
The other tie between Premier League sides saw Liverpool (9/20) progress to the next round after beating Brighton 3-0 at Anfield.
Regarding the weekend’s cup action, Alex Firth, senior trader at Midnite, said: “West Ham required extra time against Burton Albion to reach the next round of the FA Cup. The draw was 14/5 pre-match.
“The only upset on Saturday came at Turf Moor as Mansfield Town knocked out Premier League Burnley. The League One side came from behind to win 2-1 and drifted out to as big as 20/1 to win in 90 minutes after going 1-0 down.
“On Sunday, it wasn’t made easy for the Premier League sides as Leeds were taken to penalties by Birmingham (draw was 5/2 pre match). Wolves, who were 2/5 pre-match, did just enough against League Two Grimsby winning by a single goal.”
FDJ United’s Ali Gill added: “Despite some low-scoring affairs, the weekend’s FA Cup action was relatively short on shocks. However, Burnley losing at home to Mansfield Town was one such shock, and no surprise a great result for the book.
“West Ham only putting one past Burton Albion and Man City only putting two past Salford also left strong margin on those results.
“Four goals as Newcastle beat Villa 3-1 and an all-Premier League match seeing Liverpool dismantle Brighton 3-0 saw punters come out ahead in those matches, but all told there wasn’t a whole lot of note in the fourth round.”
In Rugby Union, Scotland (7/2) beat England 31-20 in the Six Nations fixture at Murrayfield to win the Calcutta Cup.
The result saw Scotland climb to the top of the table, ending England’s 12-match winning run.

Elsewhere, Ireland (1/10) ran out 20-13 winners over Italy, while France (1/100) thrashed Wales 54-12 at the Millenium Stadium.
Betfred’s Alan Firkins said: “England were firm favourites at 1/4 or thereabouts to defeat Scotland at Murrayfield on Saturday in the Six Nations, and were around a nine-point favourite in the handicap betting, but that never looked like happening as the inspired Scots ran out worthy and outstanding 31-20 victors. Decent result for the books, for sure.”
BOYLE Sports’ Brian O’Keeffe explained how the odds for the tournament have shifted after the weekend’s results.
He said: “After Scotland’s superb performance over England at Murrayfield Stadium on Saturday, only France have a 100% win record in this year’s Six Nations and they are now strong favourites to make it back-to-back titles.
“We now make them 1/10 favourites to be crowned this year’s Six Nations winner and 4/7 for them to complete the Grand Slam, with England out to 8/1 after a tough outing for Steve Borthwick’s men.
“It looks set to be another tricky campaign for Wales after they were battered by France on Sunday and it could be back-to-back campaigns without a win for them. They are 1/10 to finish bottom of the 2026 Six Nations.”
In horseracing, Jonbon came out on top in a dramatic finish in the Betfair Ascot Chase.

The Nico de Boinville 4/9 favourite took home first place ahead of Pic D’orhy (5/2) and Blow Your Wad (33/1).
At Haydock, 2/5 favourite Dalston Lad romped home in the Albert Bartlett Prestige Novice’s Hurdle, beating out Ubatuba (5/1) and Tashkhan (20/1).
Firth remarked: “Jonbon made hard work of the Grade 1 Ascot Chase on Saturday having been sent off a warm 4/9 favourite. He is likely heading to the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham in March next.”
