Gambling Affiliates Union endorses first affiliate programme
Affstorm has become the first affiliate programme to be endorsed by the new Gambling Affliates Union (GAU) trade group for egaming affiliates.
THE GAMBLING AFFILIATES UNION (GAU), the new trade group for egaming affiliates, has endorsed its first affiliate programme.
Affstorm’s affiliate programme will be allowed to carry the GAU’s ‘eye’ logo after changing a clause in its terms and conditions and agreeing to enter into GAU-arbitrated negotiation when requested by the GAU.
As reported on EGRmagazine.com, the Gambling Affiliates Union was established ten days ago as an arbitration service between affiliates and affiliate programmes. |It already has more than 150 affiliate members, and aims to have 1000 within six months.
To reach the agreement, the GAU suggested Affstorm change a clause in its affiliate programme terms and conditions which specified that the ‘the terms of this agreement may be modified by us at any time.’
Following discussion with the GAU, the clause was changed to ‘the terms of this agreement may be modified by us at any time, and will announce changes 15 days before, and after consultation with one or more of the following; Association of Players, Casinos, and Webmasters (ACPW) and Gambling Affiliates Union.’
GAU chairman Paul White, an affiliate known as Chalkie, said: “By working with the GAU and changing from a very unsuitable term to one that offers fairness to affiliates, the GAU feels that Affstorm should be rewarded by GAU members and all affiliates. Affstorm are showing their commitment to affiliates and that they are fair and reliable.”
White added that the clause’s mention of ACPW in the clause followed discussion with the ACPW and would allow disputes between affiliates and affiliate programmes to be resolved more quickly.
A further five affiliate programmes are also in discussion with the GAU.
In a separate development, the group has appointed a new director, Canadian poker affiliate Terry Bolger, whose affiliate name is ‘Pokerkeep’.
EGR Live, eGaming Review’s free to attend two-day conference and exhibition this month, includes a special Power Affiliates stream designed for the serious affiliate, with presentations on topics including successful exits and acquisitions, legal issues, revenue models and the disappearing distinction between affiliates and operators.
