PointsBet recruits bet365’s head of games to oversee US igaming
Industry veteran Aaron O’Sullivan joins the Australian operator’s US executive board as VP of online casino revenue
PointsBet has hired bet365 head of games Aaron O’Sullivan as its new VP of online casino revenue to oversee igaming operations in the US.
O’Sullivan joined the industry in 2007 as an egaming marketing manager with 32Red and has remained in it ever since, working for several leading operators across marketing and gaming.
His first executive role came as head of casino with Betfred in 2012.
He then spent almost five years with Rank Group as head of digital marketing before moving to BoyleSports as a commercial director.
O’Sullivan – an archaeology graduate from the University of Leicester – most recently spent two years as head of games with bet365 in Malta.
He has now pivoted to the nascent US gaming market with PointsBet and will sit on the Australian operator’s US executive leadership team, reporting into PointsBet US CEO Johnny Aitken.
O’Sullivan will be tasked with shaping the US online casino operation within the operator’s proprietary technology framework.
He said: “PointsBet’s long-term vision and strategy to igaming gives me great confidence.
“The in-house tech foundation means online casino, and the company as a whole, can quickly adapt to the demands of the consumer in the growing, fast-paced North American market.
“The opportunity is enormous and I think PointsBet is fantastically positioned to be a very legitimate player,” he added.
PointsBet further bolstered its North American executive team last week with the hire of Mazooma’s Chantal Cipriano as VP of legal, compliance and people in soon-to-be regulated Canada.
Aitken said: “Adding best-in-class talent to realise the power of best-in-class technology is an important directive for the PointsBet team as we continue to grow and execute.
“We are excited today to strengthen our online casino operation with the addition of Aaron O’Sullivan – a proven leader with extensive industry expertise.
“Aaron’s reputation speaks for itself, and his understanding of the current US online casino landscape, as well as his knowledge of best practices to achieve success, will be of great benefit to the company as we continue to scale and realise the growing igaming opportunity,” he added.
