Better Collective fast-tracks Dutch entry with dual acquisition
Danish affiliate seals purchase of two football-focused media sites and appoints new Netherlands MD
Better Collective has strengthened its position in the soon-to-be regulated Dutch online gambling market with the double acquisition of soccernews.nl and voetbalwedden.net.
Soccernews is a football-focused sports media domain, while voetbalwedden is a digital sports betting community featuring previews, tips and bookmaker offers.
The separate transactions amounted to an upfront payment of €5.9m, with maximum deferred and future earnout payments totalling €3.8m depending on certain conditions being met.
Better Collective said the two acquisitions would help it establish a leading position in the Dutch online sports betting market, which will be fully regulated for the first time from 1 October.
The affiliate expects the newly acquired assets to generate revenue in excess of €3m in 2022. Together, the sites attract more than 2.5 million monthly visitors.
Better Collective has also recruited Joris Dekkers as Netherlands MD. He has worked in the igaming industry for nearly 10 years and previously advised the firm on a consultancy basis.
Better Collective CEO Jesper Søgaard said: “We are excited about the regulatory opening of the Dutch igaming market, welcoming licensed operators and laying the foundation for stronger player protection.
“The Dutch market has high potential and is expected to grow significantly in the coming years. To be able to capitalise on these opportunities, we are pleased to have added two strong Dutch brands to our portfolio and welcomed Joris and a new team to Better Collective.
“These moves will help us establish a leading position in the Dutch sports betting media landscape,” he added.
