Interwetten banks on mobile success
Maltese sports betting firm sees mobile turnover soar after Februaryâs product overhaul
Interwetten said mobile turnover has soared after it overhauled its mobile sportsbook earlier this year, with the firm saying 60% of stakes came through mobile during a âdream World Cupâ.
The rolled out a newly-designed sportsbook in February across its desktop and mobile sites, adding a portfolio of 80 casino games to its mobile offering for the first time and boosting its live betting product with a live match tracker.
The mobile product was particularly successful during the World Cup and more than 60% of stakes placed during the tournament were done so on mobile devices, with the firm also reporting that more than 25% of its active customers log in using the mobile site.
The mobile performance is comparable to the likes of Betfred and BetVictor, which both confirmed after the tournament that it accepted around 70% of World Cup bets on their mobile platforms.
âWe recognised the shift towards mobile technology early on and made the right strategic decisions that are bearing fruit today,â Werner Becher, spokesperson at Interwetten, said.
Now Interwetten is looking to release its mobile products in a number of new European markets as looks to widen its presence.
Becher confirmed Germany to be one of those markets with Interwetten confident of securing one of 20 online sports betting licences up for grabs in the country, and the firm also hopes to re-launch in two other European jurisdictions the firm has previously withdrawn from.
