Unibet appoints Andrew West as head of poker
West to lead Unibet's poker team on a permanent basis following three months as interim head
Unibet has officially named Andrew West as the operator’s new permanent head of poker, eGaming Review has learned.
The appointment follows an extensive search process and a period in which West had held the position on an interim basis after predecessor Martin Stalros left the firm to join Relax Gaming as COO in January.
London-based West is now responsible for expanding Unibet’s standalone Relax Gaming-powered poker client, which was launched early last year.
“After an extensive search for external candidates, I came to the conclusion that Andrew is the right choice,” Daniel Eskola, Unibet’s head of gaming, told eGR.
“I look forward to seeing the already successful standalone poker grow further under Andrew,” he added.
West had previously worked as Unibet’s poker business development manager for nearly 18 months after having joined from Ladbrokes in September 2013.
Prior to Ladbrokes he spent at eight years at PokerStars in a number of roles including EMEA poker operations manager and Nordic & Baltic CRM manager.
Stalros was named Unibet’s head of poker in August 2013 as a replacement for Steve Cutler and during his tenure oversaw the launch of the operator’s new poker client after leaving the Microgaming MPN Network.
