Ganabet eyes LatAm push with SBTech deal
SBTech to overhaul Ganabet's sportsbook as operator prepares for this summer's FIFA World Cup
Mexican operator Ganabet.mx, which is owned by land-based bookmaker Operadora General de Entretenimiento, has contracted B2B sportsbook provider SBTech to overhaul its sports betting operation in advance of this summer’s FIFA World Cup.
The deal will see SBTech enter the potentially lucrative Latin American market for the first time, and SBTech marketing director Ron Zluff told eGaming Review that the contract enhances the company’s regulated market approach.
Ganabet.mx is to receive SBTech’s full turnkey solution as part of the deal, including its live sports betting products, casino games and localised payment processing technology.
SBTech will also deliver its html5-based mobile betting suite and Ganabet will become one of the region’s early adopters of the platform, which the operator has highlighted as part of its strategy going forward.
“As a veteran bookmaker we know exactly what it takes to run a successful sportsbook betting operation at the regulated Mexican market and SBTech’s solution is one of the best solutions in the industry today,” Cris Matus, operations manager at Ganabet, said.
With Latin America identified as an area of potential growth for online gaming and the 2014 FIFA World Cup expected to drive interest in sports betting, other operators are also anticipated to move into the region this year.
UK bookmaker Ladbrokes has already highlighted plans to launch an online offering in Mexico early this year, while Betsson and Intralot currently offer online casino games to customers in the country.
The Ganabet contract is the second SBTech has signed since updating its mobile offering to include casino games, having signed a deal with the Belgian bookmaker Starbet in November last year.
