Dabble secures online casino licence in the UK
Australian operator plots expansion into igaming having launched sports betting product last May with new licence from regulator
Dabble has secured an online casino licence from the Gambling Commission ahead of a potential push into the vertical in the UK.
Darwin-headquartered Dabble launched its sports betting offering in the UK last summer following success in its native Australia and with its DFS model in the US.
The operator secured its standard sports betting licence in April 2025 before going live in May. It runs operations out of a Leeds base, alongside remote support.
The privately owned firm secured its remote casino licence and virtual sports betting licence on 22 January.
EGR understands Dabble is in the process of fleshing out its online casino concept, with a launch date yet to be determined.
The expansion into online casino would mark a first for the business, with igaming being illegal in Australia.
The potential launch of online casino for Dabble in the UK comes as operators in the market brace for a hike in remote gaming duty from 21% to 40%.
The change, which was announced in November’s Autumn Budget, will come into effect from April.
Mitigation strategies are being put in place by firms to weather the storm. Job losses, shop closures, a softer customer offering and marketing pullbacks have all been touted.
However, some operators, including SkillOnNet, have indicated the tax shift could represent consolidation opportunities for larger operators.
Dabble has carved out a niche by blending aspects of social media and community alongside its sports betting product.
Customers can copy other users’ bets and build up their own followings as community tipsters. A dedicated ‘Banter’ channel allows users to talk to one another as well.
In October 2024, Australian media reported that the business was exploring an IPO in either Australia or the US.
Further insight into Dabble’s performance was gleaned as part of Tabcorp’s full-year 2025 report, which was released last August. Tabcorp invested A$33m (£16.7m) into Dabble back in October 2022.
In the 12 months to the end of June 2025, Dabble reported full-year revenue of A$247m driven by 804,000 active global players.
