NYX acquires social poker developer Zen Entertainment
Subscription poker operator acquired by Nevada-based subsidiary NextGen Gaming USA " deal comes after Zen filed for bankruptcy in January 2013.
NYX Gaming Group has completed the acquisition of Las Vegas-based social poker developer Zen Entertainment for an undisclosed sum.
The move comes after Zen, which runs a network of subscription-based poker sites, filed for bankruptcy in January this year, admitting at the time that its business model had been “unsuccessful”.
However, NYX Gaming Group CEO Matt Davey said that he was “delighted” to have sealed the acquisition, describing it as “a transaction that supports the expansion of the business into the emerging gaming markets within North America”. With “unparalleled distribution opportunities,” Davey said, NYX was “positioned incredibly well for continued expansion in 2013 and beyond”.
The acquisition will see Zen’s staff join NYX’s social gaming division, based in Nevada. The division, NextGen Gaming USA, was formed in October last year to develop partnerships with bricks-and-mortar casinos, offering social gaming solutions ahead of the online market opening up.
It has already established a partnership with the Nevada Gold casino group and has launched SlotsPoint, a social slots offering.
