Delaware Lottery issues egaming RFP
State-run operator begins tender process for bankend technology platform, operations manager and online gaming vendors.
The Delaware State Lottery has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for an egaming system and service provider as it moves closer to launching online gambling for the first time.
The state is seeking a number of suppliers and content providers in order to offer a full suite of online games after Delaware Governor Jack Markell approved a bill in June 2012 that legalised online gambling and more venues for sports betting in the state.
The RFP calls for companies to tender for the position of backend technology platform provider and operations manager, as well as internet game content vendors and suppliers of support services including e-wallets, identity verification and geolocation.
Currently Scientfic Games manages the Delaware Lottery’s instant ticket and cooperative services contract.
According to the RFP document, Delaware’s lottery is set to offer one version of casino table games, poker and bingo “ not necessarily from the same game content vendor “ and will offer multiple video lottery games from multiple vendors.
It confirms that the internet gaming solution will specifically be offered through branded websites owned by Delaware’s licensed video lottery agents with a single point of control through the Delaware Lottery.
Governor Markell’s plans will also expand the locations in which keno games could be played beyond Delaware’s three existing casinos to more than 100 sites, as well as making sports lottery available at venues other than the video lottery agents, such as bars or convenience stores.
Markell first announced plans for egaming in the First State in March 2012 and claims that the expansion of gambling would provide a welcome boost to the state’s land-based casinos.
