888 leapfrogs Full Tilt Poker in PokerScout rankings
London-listed firm moves into third place for the first time according to independent monitor
888poker has leapfrogged Full Tilt Poker (FTP) in PokerScout’s online cash game traffic rankings, taking third spot for the first time as its popularity continues to rise.
Data produced by the independent monitor shows 888 to have claimed a higher number of average concurrent players over the last seven days, with a seven-day average of 2,150.
FTP has been pushed into fourth with a seven day average of 2,100, comfortably ahead of the fifth-placed provider PartyPoker, which recorded a seven-day average of 1,860.
Gibraltar-licensed 888 has recorded strong growth in its poker business of late, which the vertical’s revenue up 13% to $46.9m during the six-month period ended 30 June 2013.
The egaming operator is currently preparing to launch its offering in the US seven years after it exited the US market following the introduction of the Unlawful Internet Gaming and Enforcement Act.
The 888-powered World Stars of Poker offering launched in Nevada last week, becoming the second real-money poker provider to launch in the state after Ultimate Poker went live in April.
888, eGaming Review’s reigning poker operator of the year, only climbed to fourth in the rankings in June, overtaking PartyPoker for the first time.
PartyPoker has since relaunched its offering following an overhaul that had been in the making for more than a year, since the provider announced intentions to merge with egaming operator bwin.party.
PokerStars and Playtech’s iPoker network complete the top five, with seven day averages of 20,800 and 2,300 respectively.
