Betfred unveils multi-million-pound refurb to Spectrum HQ
Bookmaker reopens its head office as 450 staff to settle in to revamped hub as bosses champion “inspiring environment”

Betfred has reopened its headquarters in Warrington after a multi-million-pound investment into the hub which the operator said would bring about a “new era of innovation”.
The privately owned operator will move its staff into the refurbished Spectrum HQ after starting the project to rejuvenate the space in September 2021.
Spectrum, a former concert and event venue that hosted bands such as Status Quo and New Order, as well as major snooker tournaments, has served as Betfred’s HQ since 2004.
The 50,000 sq ft space will be a home for 450 Betfred employees and house the group’s new state-of-the-art live studio for its Nifty 50 bingo game.
The office also features an ‘Immersion Tunnel’, a “stadium-inspired space” connector which will connect employees across the building.
Betfred said: “Spanning the tunnel is a striking, larger-than-life display showcasing Betfred’s sporting heritage and milestone moments. The tunnel delivers a powerful experience, bringing Betfred’s legacy very much to life.”
The construction side of the redevelopment was led by Domis Construction and the interior design was completed by Jackson Downes.
Domis has led on several development projects in Manchester, including Waterhouse Gardens and the Lumina Village, while Jackson Downes has worked with Accor Hotels and JD Sports.
The hub was officially reopened by Betfred co-founder Fred Done and Sir Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker of the House of Commons and the president of the Rugby Football League.
Betfred remains Rugby League’s biggest sponsor and is the headline sponsor of the Super League.
The Spectrum HQ will sit alongside Betfred’s other five offices in Manchester (Cross Street), Media City Salford, Gibraltar, the US and South Africa.

Joanne Whitaker, Betfred CEO, said: “The reopening of the Spectrum marks a fresh chapter for us. This redesign is more than just a new look – it’s about building an inspiring, collaborative environment that reflects our bold ambitions.
“We’ve created a dynamic space where ideas can flourish and our teams can come together. We’re excited about the possibilities this new headquarters will open up and are looking forward to the journey ahead.
“Although we are an international company, it was very important to us that we remained in the North West and close to our roots.”
Betfred co-founder Fred Done added: “Reopening our Spectrum HQ is a very proud moment for me and my family.
“We’ve come a long way since having one shop in Salford in 1967 and I’m delighted – because of our close association with Rugby League – that Sir Lindsay Hoyle has kindly agreed to officially open the building.”
