Betway agrees first Irish sponsorship deal
Online operator to sponsor three races at Galway Races Summer Festival
Betway has agreed a deal to sponsor three races at the Galway Races Summer Festival, which kicks off on Monday 30 July.
The online bookmaker will sponsor the first three races on the sixth day of the meeting, known as Super Saturday, in what will be the firm’s first horse racing sponsorship in Ireland.
The three races that open Saturday’s card will now be named; Betway Irish EBF Maiden, Betway Maiden and Betway Irish E.B.F. Nursery Handicap.
“The Galway Races Summer Festival is a fantastic occasion and we’re thrilled to be a part of it,” said Betway CEO Anthony Werkman.
“This is our first sponsorship in Irish racing and we’re really pleased to be able to kick it off at Galway, where the week-long Festival is an event not to be missed.
“Betting on racing in Ireland is hugely popular and we hope this sponsorship will help us to increase brand awareness among a new circle of potential customers.”
Galway Racecourse general manager Michael Moloney added: “We’re delighted to have Betway on board as a new sponsor for the Galway Races Summer Festival.”
Betway has continued its marketing blitz this summer, with new sponsorships targeting esports, Spain and Italy, although the partnership with AS Roma may be jeopardised by the Italian crackdown on gambling ads.
