Danish Gambling Authority names former immigration service director as new CEO
Civil servant Anders Dorph set to take over leadership of Danish regulator on 1 November
The Danish finance ministry has appointed Danish Immigration Service director Anders Dorph as the new CEO of the Danish Gambling Authority (DGA).Representatives from the ministry unanimously recommended that Dorph be appointed to the role, effective 1 November.Dorph will replace acting CEO Jan Madsen, who was appointed following the departure of Morten Niels Jakobsen in August.EGR has learned Madsen will now return to his role as head of division for the DGA’s betting, online casino and market analysis office.Dorph joined the Danish Immigration Service in August 2016, having spent more than 20 years as an external lecturer and member of the academic council at the University of Copenhagen.A veteran civil servant, he has also worked with the Copenhagen police and within the Danish ministry of justice in several roles over a 13-year period, most notably serving as secretary of state within the ministry for two years between 1998 and 2000.“The gaming authority plays a crucial role in the work of ensuring a proper and regulated gaming market in Denmark, where players are protected against unfair and illegal gaming and that is why I am glad that Anders Dorph has taken on the task,” Danish Minister of Taxation Morten Bødskov said.“He has an extremely well-rounded professional profile with broad experience from politically led organisations and cooperation across authorities.“Therefore, I look forward to benefiting from his experience,” he added.
