Flutter promotes Paddy Power legal counsel to senior regulatory role
Daniel Keohane becomes group head of regulatory affairs as divisional realignment continues
Flutter Entertainment has promoted Paddy Power Betfair’s (PPB) senior legal and regulatory counsel Daniel Keohane to be its new group head of regulatory affairs and senior legal counsel.
An experienced legal professional, Keohane began his time at PPB in November 2016, before spending three months as acting director of regulatory affairs in 2019.
Keohane also spent two years as a legal adviser in the regulatory and competitions team at Sky.
During his time as senior legal and regulatory counsel at PPB, Keohane worked on PPB group international legal issues, regulatory, policy and government affairs, responsibilities he will now undertake at a wider Flutter level.
Flutter is looking to expand into the German and potentially the Dutch market over the coming year, with the operator flagging a £50m annual hit from complying with new German transitional measures affecting online casino operations in its Q3 2020 trading update.
The transfer of Keohane to a senior role within the wider Flutter business is the latest in a long line of personnel promotions, following its transition into a siloed divisional operating model.
Under this model, four separate divisions were created: UK & Ireland, International, Australia, and the US, each with its own portfolio of brands and respective CEO.
In October, PPB director of legal Reg Ozcan was promoted to director of legal for Flutter’s UK & Ireland division.
Flutter Entertainment reported a 30% increase in revenue during Q3 to £1.3bn driven by strong performance from its US and Australia divisions.
