GamCare promotes from within for new head of safer gambling
Frank McCready steps into senior position after two years with the charity across two standards roles
GamCare has promoted Frank McCready to become the charity’s new head of safer gambling.
McCready has been with the gambling charity for two years, initially joining the firm as an industry standards senior manager in January 2022.
He then combined this with his role as senior safer gambling standards manager in March 2023.
In this dual position, McCready led GamCare’s industry-facing safer gambling gambling team to provide operators with safer gambling certification and advisory services.
McCready previously spent just under two decades at Gala Bingo, now Buzz Bingo, having joined the operator as an assistant venue manager in April 2001.
McCready held a number of roles at the land-based side of Gala Bingo, culminating in becoming a general manager with the firm from July 2009 to April 2015.
He then moved across to the recruitment side of the business, where he was regional manager from April 2015 to April 2018 and finally general manager from September 2018 to November 2019.
McCready then took time away from the industry, spending just over two years as the business development manager at Greene King.
Speaking to EGR, McCready said: “I am delighted to be given the opportunity to step up to head of safer gambling at GamCare. I have loved working here for the past two years, and the safer gambling team is a joy to work with daily.
“They are so passionate and skilled in the work they do, which will make my job of leading them a privilege. I am looking forward to building on existing relationships and forming new ones in the new year.”
Elsewhere, in August, GamCare named charity sector veteran D’Arcy Myers as the group’s interim CEO following the departure of Anna Hemmings.
