Inspired Entertainment announces general counsel transition
Simona Camilleri, who joined the supplier in 2024, to be replaced by company stalwart Carys Damon on 7 September
Inspired Entertainment general counsel Simona Camilleri has stepped down from her role and will be replaced by the supplier’s corporate secretary Carys Damon.
Damon will become general counsel on 7 September and also retain her corporate secretary role.
The firm said Camilleri would remain available to the business to support on the transition through to the end of 2026.
Camilleri joined the virtual sports supplier in May 2024 after a stint leading the legal and compliance department at Sportingtech.
She also counts spells with Casumo, Payhound and Booming Games on her industry CV.
Damon, a 14-year Inspired Entertainment stalwart, will reprise her role as general counsel, having previously held the post from 2017 to 2021.
Between 2021 and 2024, she served as executive vice-president and general counsel, before becoming corporate secretary.
Damon joined Inspired Entertainment as assistant general counsel in 2012.
Brooks Pierce, Inspired Entertainment CEO and president, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Carys back to the role of general counsel while she continues as corporate secretary.
“Having previously served as our general counsel, she brings a deep understanding of our business, culture and long-term strategy.
“Over the last two years, she has remained a trusted adviser to our board and leadership team, and we believe her experience, judgement and continuity will be invaluable as we continue to execute on our strategic priorities.
“On behalf of the board and the executive team, I would like to thank Simona for her contribution during a pivotal period of transformation for our company. Her leadership helped position us for continued success and we thank her for the lasting impact she has made.”
Earlier this month, Pierce told analysts on the supplier’s Q2 earnings call that the remote gaming duty hike in the UK from 21% to 40% was “draconian”.
The firm also noted a 24% decline in revenue, primarily due to the divestment of its holiday parks business and restructuring of its pub supply arm.
Despite the duty increase, the CEO said Inspired Entertainment had been able to take “continued market share gains” due to a “strong operating outperformance”.
