Oddschecker shifts to Google Kubernetes platform for improved scalability
Odds comparison site will integrate Google’s NoOps approach to manage the firm’s back-end infrastructure

Odds comparison site Oddschecker is shifting its entire technology platform onto Google Cloud’s Kubernetes containerisation system to enable the firm to scale up its business.
As part of the integration testing phase of the migration, the firm has moved all its applications onto the new system to avoid significant downtime on the Oddschecker site.
Oddschecker’s head of technology, Matt Robinson, told EGR the tech team was replicating its entire architecture in the cloud to focus on the cloud platform in isolation as day-to-day business continues.

The new system will see Oddschecker adopt Google’s NoOps approach to manage the firm’s underlying infrastructure.
Robinson said: “Using Google’s managed services will allow us to focus on the business level problems.”
A new head of infrastructure and team of site reliability engineers have been hired as part of the process.
Sky Betting and Gaming announced a similar process of migration in November 2017.
Technology director Paul McCormick said the operator was moving all its betting technology onto Google Cloud to manage higher volumes of traffic.
Exchange betting operator Smarkets recently told EGR it was also looking to Kubernetes to host its back-end technology.
