Partypoker eyes German expansion with Boris Becker deal
GVC-owned firm signs two new German ambassadors ahead of 2017 push
Partypoker has signed Boris Becker to be its newest brand ambassador as the operator looks to expand its presence in Germany in 2017.
As part of the deal, Becker will front a new tennis-themed promotion called Beat The Ace, where players can enter four $5,000 freerolls with the overall winner playing Boris heads up, live in Germany for up to $25,000.
“It’s great to have Boris on board, as he is one of Germany’s, and indeed the world’s most notable sportsmen,” Tom Waters, group head at partypoker said.
“Boris’ mental strength and desire to win will make him a tough competitor at the poker table, and I’m sure he’ll test our players as part of the partypoker tennis promotion.
“We look to expand our poker offering in Germany for 2017 and I am thrilled that Boris will be our ambassador in this market.”
Boris Becker added: “I learnt to play poker a long time ago; it’s a game of skill and perseverance, so I’m hoping to use my experience on the tennis court to my advantage.”
The company also signed German poker player Jan Jachtmann as a sponsored pro as part of its Germany push.
“It is with great pleasure that I join the partypoker team,” Jachtmann said.
“I have watched partypoker grow in 2016 and am ready for 2017 where together we will expand the German online and live market for players.”
The partypoker brand has been having a rough time in New Jersey in recent months, where geolocation issues caused an abrupt end to its Garden State Super Series main event in late October.
