Playtech appoints BLP partner to general counsel

Playtech has appointed Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) partner and corporate specialist Alex Latner to the role of general counsel.
Latner joined Playtech from BLP on 31 December as a replacement for the supplier’s former general counsel, David McLeish, who left last year to join law firm Wiggin.
While at BLP, Latner advised Playtech for more than 10 years, including its IPO in 2006 and the majority of its most high-profile transactions.
He assisted Playtech with the formation of William Hill Online, the acquisition of Virtue Fusion, Geneity and Ash Gaming, as well as the company’s move into financial markets.
“Playtech is at another significant stage of its continued growth and development, which will provide some fascinating challenges for me and my team as the company’s strategy is implemented,” Latner said.
“I am delighted to join Playtech, a dynamic company that I have advised for over half my career,” he added. “I look forward to contributing to the group’s continued success.”
Playtech confirmed it would retain BLP in its advisory capacity following Latner’s appointment.
The news comes just days after it was announced CFO Ron Hoffman will step down from his role to become CEO of the supplier’s Financials division, with head of IR Andrew Smith promoted to replace the long-serving financial chief.
The supplier is due to announce its full-year financial results on 23 February 2017.
