Kambi reports tribal operator partners’ handle leaps 128% in 2022-23
Kambi also notes basketball as the most popular sport by handle, with 44% of all bets being placed across the tribal network on associated markets
Kambi has reported tribal operators on its sports betting network saw total handle between 2022 and 2023 increase by 128% year on year.
As detailed in the Stockholm-listed firm’s ‘Tribal Sports Betting Report 2024’, Kambi’s nine tribal partners saw significant growth in the number of bets placed during the period.
Kambi has deals in place with the Seneca Gaming Corporation, Soaring Eagle, Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment, Four Winds, Desert Diamond, WarHorse Gaming, Ilani, Potawatomi Casinos, and Prairie Band Casino.
The data is based on both retail and online customers across nine US states and the Canadian province of Ontario.
The report also revealed which sports and bet types were most popular with Kambi’s tribal operators’ customers.
The supplier revealed 44% of the total tribal sports betting handle was on basketball, which was streets ahead of football in second at 19%. Baseball took the bronze medal position with 18% of handle.
The other two highest-ranking sports in terms of handle were soccer and ice hockey, both with 3% of tribal handle in 2023. Other sports made up the 13% of remaining handle in the reporting period.
The report also detailed the top sports by number of bets across the Kambi tribal network.
Football came out on top in this category, with 34% of all bets being placed on the sport. Basketball was second at 27% and baseball was third at 20%.
Ice hockey and soccer rounded out the top five with 6% and 5%, respectively. Other sports accounted for 8% of the remaining bets placed across the tribal network.
Kambi also detailed same game parlay data which showed what percentage of total bets on each sport was done so as a combinable bet.
Football topped that list, with 10% of all retail and online bets placed being same game parlays.
Basketball came in second, with 5% of the bets placed on same game parlays. Ice hockey and baseball both had 4% of total bets placed on same game wagers.
Soccer rounded out the top five, with 3% of all retail and online bets placed on the sport being same game wagers.
Finally, Kambi noted that within 24 hours after winning a bet, 94% of online or mobile bettors reinvested their winnings into another bet, compared to 77% of those who placed bets at land-based venues.
The supplier also highlighted that operators across its network have seen their loyalty members return more once in a 28-day period at an average rate of 48% across the year.
