New York GGR slips to lowest level since August
Licensed operators in the state return $131.4m in revenue as handle falls from January despite Super Bowl on 11 February
New York’s licensed sports betting operators returned $131.4m in GGR in February, marking the lowest return in the Empire State since August.
Despite the Super Bowl taking place during the reporting period, operators in New York saw GGR slip from $221.5m in January, with the figure the lowest since August 2023’s return of $98.5m.
Handle slipped from $1.9bn in January to $1.8bn in February, with the metric the lowest since September.
FanDuel remained the brand to beat in February after securing GGR of $63.4m. However, the Flutter-owned firm saw GGR plummet from January’s $109.2m.
The operator also noted a downturn in handle, falling from $867.1m in January to $720.1m in February.
Long-term rival DraftKings landed in second place with GGR of $53.4m, down from $71m in January, and handle of $607.9m.
Caesars retained its bronze medal position in February off the back of handle of $160.7m generating GGR of $6.7m, although this represented a significant decrease on January’s GGR of $13.6m.
BetMGM reported a significant decrease in GGR to less than $600,000 after January’s return of $10m, despite handle increase for the JV.
Elsewhere, Fanatics reported its highest handle in New York to date, with the brand launching to replace PointsBet this year, with $82.9m leading to GGR of $2.9m, up slightly on January’s $2.6m.
