Poll results: Readers split on bet365's Italy potential
Respondents to this week's poll unsure if Stoke-based operator can dominate the Italian market as it has done in Spain
eGaming Review readers are divided as to whether online gambling giant bet365 can take the number one position in Italy following the launch of its dot.it site earlier this week.
Just over half (52%) of respondents to this week’s poll believe that bet365 will dominate the Italian market, compared to 48% who suggest the operator will be unable to replicate its success in Spain where it currently holds a sportsbook market share close to 50%.
The Stoke-based operator’s regulated Italian site went live on Monday morning and features a full range of sports betting markets, casino, live casino and poker products.
However, the firm will be up against stiff competition from the likes of Paddy Power, which has claimed around a 13% share of the sports betting, as well as William Hill, bwin.party and Eurobet.
The launch marked bet365’s latest move into a regulated online gambling market having previously secured licences in Spain, Denmark and Australia, while it has also submitted applications for Bulgarian and German licences.
