Swedish GGR rises 3% year-on-year to SEK6.75bn in Q2 2022
Total market returns improved revenue as land-based operations post improved figures

The Swedish gambling market has returned a 3% year-on-year (YoY) rise in gross gaming revenue (GGR) for Q2 2022.
According to the latest data from the Swedish Gambling Authority (SGA), GGR for the quarter amounted to SEK6.75bn, up from the SEK6.5bn posted in Q2 2021.
There were increases in GGR across all but one of Sweden’s major gambling verticals, including a strong return for land-based operations following the removal of Covid-19-imposed restrictions.
Online sports betting and casino returned GGR of SEK4.2bn for the quarter, compared to SEK4.1bn in Q2 2021.
State lottery and slots games also increased slightly in GGR return, rising from SEK1.4bn to SEK1.42bn.
Casino Cosmopol, which saw its doors shuttered in Q2 2021 due to Covid-19 and therefore returned SEK0 in GGR, delivered SEK145m for the latest quarter.
Similarly, land-based commercial gaming such as restaurant casinos leapt from SEK8m in Q2 2021 to SEK57m in Q2 2022.
Public and national lotteries was the only vertical to post a slippage in GGR YoY, falling from SEK941m to SEK868m.
Last month, the SGA’s director-general Camilla Rosenberg spoke to EGR on the challenges facing the market since its re-regulation in 2019.
