FanDuel hires former Bonacic chief-of-staff for government relations role
Andrew Winchell named FanDuel Group’s director of governmental affairs
FanDuel Group has hired Andrew Winchell, the former chief of staff for New York senator John Bonacic, as its director of governmental affairs.
In his new role, Winchell will be responsible for coordinating legislative efforts before state governments around the country, meeting with legislators and state regulators to explain FanDuel’s products, and reviewing draft legislation and regulations to determine their impact on FanDuel Group.
FanDuel said in a statement: “Andrew Winchell joins FanDuel Group with over a decade of experience working in the New York State legislature. During that time he has gained expertise in racing and gaming legislation, with specific expertise in fantasy sports and sports betting legislation.”
Wincvhell was chief of staff for Bonacic from 2009 until December last year when the senator retired.
During that period Bonacic was a key supporter of gaming expansion and was the sponsor of the sports betting bill introduced in the NY Senate last year.
Winchell’s LinkedIn page says he is a “noted speaker on gaming legislation”.
