G2E 2023: Convening gaming, building possibilities, empowering success
Global Gaming Expo’s event VP Korbi Carrison and AGA’s senior VP of membership and events reveal what’s in store at this year’s G2E in Las Vegas
This October, the worldwide gaming community will flock to Las Vegas to once again put the “global” in Global Gaming Expo (G2E). This year’s event comes as the international gaming market undergoes significant changes and the American gaming industry continues its record momentum – but not without its own set of challenges and opportunities.
G2E is gaming’s premier event because it gathers gaming stakeholders from across the world to do business. The event is the catalyst for the ideas that will chart how we solve these challenges and take advantage of opportunities ahead.
This fact has never been more evident than two years ago, when the gaming industry proudly returned to G2E in Las Vegas, determined to highlight the people, products, and ideas that would drive gaming businesses out of a pandemic and on to greater things. Since 2021, the industry has made an explosive comeback, reaching new heights in revenue and innovation, and there’s no doubt that G2E accelerated this growth.
Inside the expo hall
In the US, legalized gaming continues to expand to new verticals in sports betting and igaming, while digital payments and other financial technology providers have become integral industry participants and pillars of G2E programming. Last month, the American Gaming Association (AGA) announced nationwide commercial gaming revenue surpassed $16bn in the second quarter of 2023: the industry’s 10th consecutive quarter of annual growth.
G2E 2023 (Education: October 9-12 | Expo Hall: October 10-12) will continue this trend of propelling gaming into the future, both in the US and across the globe.
In the expo hall, more than 350 exhibitors will convene to debut the latest and greatest land-based and online casino games and innovations, providing the largest showcase for attendees to explore at any post-pandemic G2E yet.
New features on this year’s expo floor include:
- Dedicated igaming space – G2E will debut an all-new ‘iGaming Zone’, offering attendees a chance to connect with igaming suppliers in a central location and explore the future of the online casino space. This area serves as the beginning of the journey of igaming discovery through the expo hall.
- Reimagined ‘The Lab’ – While innovation happens across the expo hall, the redesigned ‘The Lab’ will serve as a hub for thought leadership that explores what’s next in gaming.
- More networking opportunities – From the expanded G2E Networking Lounge to additional networking events, the expo hall will host numerous coffee breaks, happy hours, and designated industry group meet-ups, helping to foster collaboration across the gaming community.
Moreover, G2E’s education program – the conference component of each year’s event – will assemble industry leaders, experts, and observers to discuss the topics most important to securing our industry’s future, with an agenda curated from more than 400 session submissions by industry stakeholders.
That means discussing how we can make further progress on eliminating unregulated and illegal gambling operators, a plague to communities and legal gaming companies across the globe and a $511bn market in the US, according to AGA research. In tandem with creating a safer gaming environment by combating illegal operators, we will also host critical conversations on how the legal industry can bolster responsible gaming and responsible advertising to keep up with growing markets, with attendees from domestic and international markets taking lessons from each other.
As technology continues to become an inextricable part of the gaming experience, panels will address topics such as AI’s near- and long-term impacts on the industry. And igaming’s expanded presence in the expo hall will be complimented by sessions examining the sector’s path forward in both the US and globally.
Get down to business
Legal sports betting is growing in the US in both footprint and popularity, but this growth is also bringing heightened scrutiny from policymakers and media regarding responsibility and integrity. The industry will come together at G2E to continue building a safe, sustainable marketplace.
Of course, traditional conversations around the future of the casino floor, regulation, customer acquisition and loyalty, finance and operations, and more will also be featured prominently.
In all, from the expo hall to the education sessions, G2E 2023 will exemplify where our industry stands: positioned for continued success, with both headwinds and tailwinds ahead.
We can’t wait to see you there as we do business, take on the most important issues in gaming and empower success for the future.
