ROGA initiates proposal process for independent responsible gaming database
Trade association calls on industry suppliers to help with data clearinghouse project, designed to provide a national self-exclusion register that will deliver an “holistic view”
The Responsible Online Gaming Association (ROGA) has launched a request for proposal process for technology suppliers to assist the trade body in the creation of its data clearinghouse program.
Interested parties have been invited to work with ROGA in an expression of interest process which is expected to conclude by November 25.
ROGA has said it wants participation from companies that can provide “high-quality service with a standardized, secure and well-governed system, while meeting requirements in data security, privacy, and infrastructure.”
The data clearinghouse project will be used to create an independent database seeking to “evolve responsible gaming and consumer protection in the industry.”
The platform will initially take the shape of a national self-exclusion list shared by ROGA’s eight members, including bet365, BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel, and PENN Entertainment.
Hard Rock Digital, Fanatics Betting and Gaming, and Bally’s Corporation make up the rest of the ROGA members.
Should a player self-exclude through a ROGA member’s responsible gaming platform, the data clearinghouse will ensure that person self-excludes from all other member operators.
ROGA’s advisory committee, formed earlier this month, will assist suppliers with the development of the program.
Jennifer Shatley, executive director, said: “By using the intelligence platform of an independent clearinghouse provider, ROGA’s aim is to create a database that provides a more holistic view of players — allowing a mechanism for industry-wide protection of consumers.
“Through an independent, trusted clearinghouse program, we can build confidence with key stakeholders and regulators while enhancing the industry’s efforts to prioritize consumer protection with more valuable insights and efficient and actionable solutions.”
Back in September, ROGA announced plans to launch a national college gambling education program, set to roll out in early 2025.
