App enables Android users to enter real-money daily fantasy contests for the first time
Daily fantasy sports (DFS) operator FanDuel has launched a dedicated Android app giving users of smartphones on Googleâs mobile operating system access to real-money contests for the first time. [private]
The app is available to download directly from the FanDuel website and allows players to find contests, set and edit line-ups, check live scoring, and deposit cash.
The operator already has an Android app â FanDuel Live Scoring â that enables players to check contests but does not allow them to enter contests and make deposits.
The launch comes after FanDuel revealed it had hired a batch of former Zynga employees made redundant by the social gaming giant as part of a $100m cost reduction plan.
Among the new recruits was Mike Taramykin, who was responsible for establishing Zyngaâs Orlando development studio, focused on producing mobile sports games.
Mobile adoption is on the rise among daily fantasy sports players and looks set to become the next battle ground between FanDuel and DraftKings as both continue to lock horns over player sign-ups.
