Trade body trio join forces for the “fight against illegal gambling” in new MoU
American Gaming Association, European Casino Association, and the Betting and Gaming Council commit to cross-continental collaboration as part of combined efforts to tackle “key issues”
The American Gaming Association (AGA), European Casino Association (ECA), and the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to start a collaboration rooted in “shared industry values and priorities”.
Three of the industry’s most high-profile trade bodies have joined forces to tackle some of the sector’s most pressing issues, including the black market, responsible gambling initiatives, innovation efforts and security.
The MoU will allow all three associations to work together on joint research projects, with staff members collaborating across organisations to share insights and expertise.
The trio have already scheduled the first initiative borne out of the MoU in the form of a roundtable scheduled for January 2025, with a focus on tackling illegal gambling.
The roundtable will feature “industry leaders, law enforcement officials and regulators” to explore solutions to tackle the black market and its impact on the regulated sector.
AGA president and CEO Bill Miller said: “This new partnership is a significant step forward in our collective efforts to advance the legal gaming industry and protect consumers around the globe.

“By fostering dialogue and cooperation across borders, the AGA, ECA, and BGC are taking a proactive approach to safeguarding the integrity of the legal gaming industry and ensuring its continued growth and success.”
Betting and Gaming Council CEO Grainne Hurst added: “Working together with the AGA and ECA, I am confident our shared knowledge and expertise will be vital to bolstering safer gambling standards while tackling the threat of the growing and unsafe unregulated gambling black market in the UK.”
