DraftKings adds Capital Group Companies partner to board
Gregory W Wendt spent nearly four decades at the investment management firm, and will now join operator’s board and nominating and corporate governance committee
DraftKings has appointed former Capital Group Companies partner Gregory W Wendt to its board of directors, effective from October 24.
Wendt joins from Capital Group Companies, one of the world’s largest investment management firms, after 37 years.
In moving to the Boston-based operator, Wendt will also serve as a member of its nominating and corporate governance committee.
He is also a Trustee of the University of Chicago and is a founder of a series of KIPP (knowledge is power program) schools in Missouri.
Wendt’s arrival takes the total number of DraftKings board members to 11, joining co-founders Jason Robins, Matthew Kalish, and Paul Liberman in the process.
DraftKings also has three special advisors on the board, including NBA legend Michael Jordan.
Robins said: “Greg brings deep expertise in investment management and a strong understanding of the gaming sector.
“His insights will be invaluable as we continue to scale our business, enhance the customer experience, and strengthen DraftKings’ position as a leader in sports entertainment and technology.”

Last week DraftKings hired former bet365 head of gaming Christian Bogstrand as its new EVP and general manager of gaming.
Bogstrand occupied various positions at bet365 between 2008 and 2020 before joining Lucky7 Ventures two years later.
