Indiana governor greenlights online betting bill
Operators to pay a 9.5% tax on gross winnings with licenses to cost $100,000
Indiana last night legalised online and mobile sports betting after Governor Eric Holcomb signed-off on House Bill 1015.
The bill permits online and mobile betting across the state as well as within state casinos and race-tracks.
The bill also included a tax rate of 9.5% on gross winnings with licenses to cost $100,000 and be available as of September 1.
The law will also impose limits on in-play betting.
In August last year regulatory body, the Indiana Gaming Commission (IGC) enlisted boutique analyst firm Eilers & Krejcik to conduct a two-year study on the potential impact of sport betting in the state.
The study includes market analysis, demographic analysis, fiscal analysis, costs, revenue forecast, revenue impact and policy considerations.
