Iowa Racing and Gaming administrator resigns after 12 years
Brian Ohorilko to be replaced in January with deputy director Tina Eick serving in role on an interim basis

Brian Ohorilko has resigned from the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission (IRGC) after 12 years as its administrator.
Ohorilko will be replaced by deputy director Tina Eick on an interim basis, with the appointment being confirmed at a special meeting took place on December 19.
Ohorilko’s full-time replacement is expected to be appointed at the January 25 meeting.
The now-departed administrator first joined the IRGC in 2003 before stepping before to become administrator in 2011.
Speaking to Radio Iowa, he said: “I’ve done a lot in this space and those 20 years, and for me it was just an opportunity to pursue some other goals. And the timing felt right, both personally and professionally to do so at the end of this year.”
The IRGC thanked Ohorilko for his 20 years of service, with chair Daryl Olsen adding: “Brian has served our Commission well and with great integrity. We appreciate his twenty years of public service to the State and wish him well as he returns to the private sector.
“The other commissioners and I have great faith in Tina and the rest of the IRGC staff to uphold the responsibilities of the commission. We have a great team in place and a solid plan to move forward.”
