Michigan regulator sends 15 cease-and-desist letters to unlicensed operators
Michigan Gaming Control Board continues clampdown against illegal firms after issuing 25 letters in July
The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has issued cease-and-desist letters to 15 illegal operators as it continues to push back against offshore firms.
The operators in question are 7 Bit Casino, Avia Games Inc, Grande Vegas Casino, High Country Casino, i Net Bet, and Liberty Slots Casino.
Lincoln Casino, Lucky Hippo Casino, Miami Club Casino, PrimaPlay Casino, Slot Madness, Slots Plus Casino, Sun Palace Casino, Vegas Casino Online, and Vegas2Web Casino were also sent letters.
The MGCB said the firms were found to be offering either casino-style games or interactive wagering without a license in the state.
In doing so, the operators were in violation of not only the Lawful Internet Gaming Act but also the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, and sections of the Michigan Penal Code.
With the letters now sent, each operator has been urged to stop all Michigan-facing operations.
Failure to do so could result in enforcement from the board and Michigan’s Attorney General.
Henry Williams, MGCB executive director, said: “These unlawful operators try to present themselves as legitimate entertainment options, but they offer zero player protections, no accountability, and a real risk to consumers.
“Our message is simple: If you want to offer gambling in Michigan, follow the law or we will stop you. We will continue to work aggressively to keep illegal gambling out of our state.”
The latest enforcement action from the MGCB follows previous attempts to stop illegal operators offering gambling to players in the state.
At the end of Last month, the MGCB sent six cease-and-desist letters to unlicensed firms.
At the start of July, 19 letters were sent in what was Michigan’s largest single crackdown against illegal operators to date.
In June, the MGCB sent 11 cease-and-desist orders across two separate crackdown in its ongoing fight against unlicensed operators.
