NYRA and FanDuel settle contract dispute with new deal agreed
Pari-mutuel betting once again available on Flutter-owned horseracing wagering platforms after row earlier this month
The New York Racing Association (NYRA) has agreed a new deal with FanDuel, weeks after a dispute saw all pari-mutuel wagering and live video content removed from TVG and FanDuel TV.
As part of the new agreement, wagering on the July 11 summer meet at Saratoga Race Course was available on TVG/FanDuel platforms after previous concerns that would not be the case.
The row came after a “contractual impasse” between the NYRA and Flutter’s horse racing wagering platforms at the start of July.
At the time, Tony Allevato, NYRA chief revenue officer, said the organization “must prioritize the overall health of the sport and broader industry here in New York.”
He added that negotiations would continue, with a deal now agreed which will also see FanDuel/TVG make a sizable contribution to the NYRA Foundation.
On the new contract agreement, Allevato said: “We are pleased to have reached a resolution that will allow FanDuel/TVG customers across the country to wager on NYRA racing now and moving forward.
“In accordance with the goals stated at the outset of this process, NYRA will be dedicating significant funding to support New York’s horsemen and strengthen the state’s thoroughbred racing ecosystem.”
Andrew Moore, FanDuel Group’s general manager of racing, added: “We are happy to have reached a multi-year agreement with the New York Racing Association and to extend our 24-year wagering partnership.
“We look forward to the Saratoga meet and beyond and to supporting the good work of the NYRA Foundation.”
The Saratoga meet will run until September 2 and features 19 Grade 1 races with 71 stakes worth $20.75m in purses.
FanDuel TV and FanDuel+ launched in 2022 and airs more than 3,000 hours of live sports including basketball and horse racing.
