Pennsylvania sportsbooks set new monthly record with $968.5m in October handle
Keystone State eclipses previous mark of $935.5m from November 2024 en route to $91.8m in monthly revenue
Sports betting interest in Pennsylvania reached new heights in October, with operators reporting a record $968.5m in handle, according to new data from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB).
The near-$970m in wagering volume, which represented an 12.9% year-over-year (YOY) increase from the same period of 2024, eclipsed the Keystone’s State previous high-water mark of $935.5m from last November.
Gross gaming revenue (GGR) for October amounted to $91.8m – a 58% YOY surge – which equated to a solid 9.5% statewide hold.
That gave way to $60.7m in adjusted gross revenue (AGR) following the deduction of $31.2m in promotional credits.
Operators sent $20.6m in tax payments back to the state as overall tax receipts surpassed $60m through the first four months of the fiscal year.
With football season in full swing, bonuses were flying and FanDuel in particular saw an opportunity to turn up the dial on that front.
The US market leader accounted for nearly half of the statewide promotional spend by itself at $15.4m, or nearly three times that of any other operator. That helped FanDuel amass $357.6m in handle and $33.7m in GGR, which translated to $18.2m in AGR, after the deduction of bonuses.
DraftKings maintained its standing as the number two operator after totaling $27.4m in gross revenue on $300.1m in handle.
The operator generated the most taxable revenue ($21.8m) of any sportsbook in the state thanks to spending nearly $10m less than FanDuel in promotional credits, which nonetheless still equated to a hearty $5.6m, second-most among all operators.
Fanatics and BetMGM shared the final podium spot, with Fanatics taking the honors in handle ($66.4m versus $59.9m) but BetMGM prevailing in the GGR category ($6.1m versus $5.8m).
It was a record month all around in the Keystone State as igaming hit a new apex as well, with operators reporting $251.1m in revenue – a 32.8% YOY increase from $189m in October 2024 – topping the standing record of $238.2m from March.
Online slots represented the biggest piece of the revenue pie at $190.8m, followed by online table games ($57.7m) and online poker ($2.5m).
