Pennsylvania’s sports betting and igaming July revenues hit double-digit percentage growth
Keystone State regulator reports 8% total revenue growth as online poker and DFS contest revenues continue slide
Pennsylvania saw double-digit percentage increases in both igaming and online sports betting revenues in July, according to data from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB).
Releasing its latest revenue report, the Keystone State regulator reported an 8% year-on-year (YOY) total gaming revenue rise during the month to $467m, thanks to the increases in both verticals.
Total tax revenue generated collectively through all forms of gaming and fantasy contests amounted to $192m during July 2023.
Pennsylvania igaming revenue rose 35% YOY in July to $132.8m, with five out of 11 state-authorized igaming operators reporting double-digit increases in their respective revenue during the month.
Online table games was the big winner in the igaming revenue stakes, reporting a 48% YOY revenue increase to $35.3m, just ahead of igaming slots revenue, which rose by 32% to $94.8m.
The state reported a 26% YOY increase in sports betting revenue over the course of July to $32m, with operators racking up $338.4m in sportsbook handle over the month.
July’s sports betting increase was punctuated by triple-digit percentage revenue growth at Parx Casino, Harrah’s Philadelphia, and Live! Casino Pittsburgh.
Daily fantasy sports contest revenue continued to slump in July, falling 23% YOY to just $665,886, with only Underdog Fantasy reporting a YOY revenue increase during the month.
Pennsylvania retail slots revenue increased by a meagre 0.36% YOY in July to $214.6m, while retail table gaming revenue slumped 3.7% to $83.4m over the same period.
Online poker revenue also declined sharply during July, dropping 4% YOY to $2.6m, with statewide video game terminal (VGT) revenue falling 7% YOY to $3.3m.
