Playtech adds ex-Morgan Stanley MD to board following SpringOwl pressure
John Krumins named as as non-executive director alongside US-based hedge fund manager Anna Massion
Playtech has appointed US-based hedge fund manager Anna Massion and former Morgan Stanley MD John Krumins as non-executive directors of the board on the guidance of shareholder SpringOwl Asset Management.
Massion has a history in gambling investments in the US, UK and rest of Europe. She currently works for PAR Capital Management which manages more than $5bn in assets.
Krumins spent 15 years at Morgan Stanley and also held roles in corporate finance and technology at Deutche Bank.
Playtech worked closely with SpringOwl on the appointments, as it looks to strengthen its corporate governance profile and “deliver the oversight and strategic counsel required for a global organisation such as Playtech”.
SpringOwl partner Jason Ader has been steering Playtech’s gaze towards the US market since acquiring a $100m position in the London-listed supplier last year.
Ader said of the appointments: “We have worked closely and constructively with Playtech’s Board and institutional shareholders to identify these two outstanding candidates.
“Anna and John’s wealth of experience and expertise will be invaluable in providing the necessary oversight and counsel to help shape the company’s strategic direction,” he added.
