Rebet launches free-to-play social sportsbook across 47 states
App allows users to bet on over 60 professional and college sports leagues and is available in almost all US jurisdictions, including California and Texas
Rebet has unleashed its free-to-play social sportsbook in 47 states across the US ahead of March Madness, with the startup claiming the product will “revolutionize the sports betting experience.”
The app, which is backed by seven figures of private investment, allows users to bet using Rebet Coins and Rebet Cash. Rebet Coins replenish daily in intervals of 100 or 10 if a user’s balance hits zero, and people can purchase more Rebet Coins for real money.
Rebet Cash cannot be bought and replenished daily or in intervals of one when a user’s account hits zero. It can be obtained by either winning contests or as a bonus with purchases of Rebet Coins.
Rebet Cash can be exchanged one-to-one for real money only after being staked and won through a wager.
Users can bet on more than 60 leagues, including the MLB, NBA, NHL, NFL, and UFC, due to a data partnership with Sportradar and separate deals with the Associated Press and USA Today.
In addition to traditional game wagers, users can place bets on player props, peer-to-peer wagering opportunities, and sweepstakes.
The app also has a social media-style feed that allows users to follow individuals, engage in debate on bets, and “rebet” another person’s wager if they think it will land.
Four current Dartmouth students founded Rebet: Carson Hubbard (CEO), Isabella DiGiovanni (CMO), Liam Tassiello (COO), and Edwin Onyango (CTO), with the product available in almost all states, barring Michigan, Idaho, and Nevada.
However, the product will be live in states without legalised sports betting including California and Texas.
The operator will now look to compete with fellow free-to-play brand Fliff, which recently secured a small victory in the courts over allegations of illegal sports betting offering in California.
On the app’s release, Hubbard said: “Sports fandom is about our desire for social interaction and community, and until today, those elements have been missing in both traditional and social sportsbooks.
“Rebet is revolutionizing this experience with all the essential elements of the sports betting experience in one easy-to-use, and interactive app. We know users are going to love our experience and we are thrilled to introduce Rebet to the world.”
