New Hampshire stakes fall year on year in December
Handle in New Hampshire for the final month of the year amounted to $78.8m, which was a 13% drop from the $90.9m recorded in December 2022, although it was a slight increase on the $78.5m posted in November.
Online sports betting, which is a monopoly with DraftKings being the state’s sole operator, accounted for the majority of the December bets as players wagered $67m digtially compared with $11.7m at retail sportsbooks.
In terms of online and retail GGR in New Hampshire combined, this stood at $7.7m in December, down 7% on the $8.3m posted in 2022 and 6% less than November’s $8.2m.
Lastly, the tax collected by the state in December totaled $3.4m. Broken down by online and retail, online contributed $2.9m, while $437,417 came from retail.
Louisiana monthly handle hits third consecutive high
Bettors in the Pelican State wagered $377m on sports during the final month of the year, surpassing November’s total by just under 6%. December’s total was a 48% increase on that recorded in December 2022.
Online sports betting accounted for the majority of this amount, with $344.9m in total bets, while a further $32.1m was placed at retail establishments.
There are nine mobile operators in Louisiana, with bet365 being the latest to launch, in November 2023 via a partnership with the riverboat casino Amelia Belle.
In terms of statewide revenue, or “net proceeds” as the operator refers to it, this reached $55.8m, beating the existing record of $43.3m set in October 2023. This meant operators achieved an online hold of 14.2%.
Breaking that down, $51.3m came from online sports betting after promotional spending, with $4.5m from retail. The state collected $7.6m in tax in December.
FanDuel narrowly tops Arizona handle in November
FanDuel maintained a narrow lead over its rivals in Arizona in terms of sports betting handle in November, figures released by the Arizona Department of Gaming revealed.
The Flutter Entertainment-owned operator took $249.3m in mobile bets in November, narrowly beating DraftKings with $229.4m in total wagers.
However, DraftKings took the top spot in terms of “adjusted gross revenue” with $9.7m after free bets are removed from the equation. FanDuel was second with $7.7m, followed by BetMGM with $1.9m.
In terms of overall handle in Arizona, players set a new record in November after spending $713.6m across mobile and land-based facilities.
This figure beat out the previous record of $690m set in March 2022, and it was also 16% higher than the $616.9m spent in November 2022.
However overall revenue was 46% lower than 2022 at $21.2m, with online contributing $19m to this figure.
DraftKings retains Wyoming dominance despite slight handle drop-off
DraftKings continued its dominance in Wyoming online sports betting handle, posting just over $11m in December.
While the Boston-based operator still dominates the market of just four brands, taking almost $7m more in handle than the next highest operator, December’s figure was almost $1m less than the $11.97m posted in November.
FanDuel and BetMGM took silver and bronze medal positions, respectively. The biggest growth in terms of wagers came from Caesars, which saw handle jump 50% from $397,184 in November to $803,768 in December, giving the operator a 4% share of the market based on handle.
Overall, the handle in Cowboy State grew 2.6% from $18.5m in November to just over $19m in December.
Revenue also went up in Wyoming in December, reaching $1.8m. This was an 18% increase on the November figure.
