Simplebet takes $630m in baseball bets in first half of MLB season
The micro-betting provider enjoyed a 100% increase in handle when compared to the same period last season
Micro-betting providerSimplebet has experienced a significant surge in the number of baseball bets taken during the first half of the Major League Baseball (MLB) 2024 season.
The supplier handled more than $630m for the first half of the campaign, which runs from March through September.
The total handle represents a 100% increase when compared to the corresponding period last 2023 season.
This figure was generated by almost 13 million baseball bets being placed thus far this season, up 130% from the same reporting period last season.
Bets have been placed via Simplebet’s operating partners which include DraftKings, Caesars Sportsbook, bet365, ESPNBet, and Hard Rock Bet.
The New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Baltimore Orioles have been the most popular teams to bet on for players.
Meanwhile, Aaron Judge, Juan Soto (both New York Yankees), and Shohei Ohtani (Los Angeles Dodgers) have been the players most bet on via Simplebet’s plate appearance markets.
Simplebet co-founder and CEO Chris Bevilacqua said: “The growth we’ve seen in the first half of the MLB season is a testament to the unparalleled engagement and stickiness our micro-betting products offer.
“As we saw last season with the NFL and NBA, MLB TV ratings and engagement across their media partners, FOX (+18%) and ESPN (+10%), were up significantly year over year.
“There is no question that when fans engage during the game with an interactive, live in-play betting experience, the overall consumption of the sport increases,” he added.
Simplebet promoted Andre Bessette to the role of chief product officer in April after a five-year stint with the company.
