Is sports betting legal?

Yes

West Virginia became the fifth state in the US to go live with sports betting when the Hollywood Casino (owned by Penn National) opened at the end of August 2018. Since then, four more casinos have launched retail sports betting: Mountaineer Casino, The Greenbrier (private members club), Mardi Gras Casino and Wheeling Island Hotel.

Sports betting tax revenue is deposited in the Public Employees Insurance Agency Financial Stability Fund and appropriated for the purposes of lowering retiree premiums, to help reduce benefit cuts, and to help reduce premium increases

$100,000 initial license fee
$100,000 renewal fee every 5 years
